SUMMER TIME, 2010

In 2009-2010, 31 volunteers  in LU’s Let’s Talk Science Partnership Program shared science and engineering activities with 9,086 Youth, 1,945 Adults and 80 educators in 130 outreach events. We achieved these impressive results in partnership with over 40 community partners on campus, in Sudbury, nationally and internationally.

The Battery Contest: Congratulations go to esc Champlain. Ten high schools collected two and half tons of batteries (2500 pounds) for proper disposal .. so I guess we all won in the end!

Cathy Orlando was nominated for a CBC Champions of Change award by a third party, Christine Penner Polle who lives in Red Lake, Ontario, 17 hours north of Sudbury. She feels that "Being nominated for this national award is a victory for science outreach, climate change and our community of Sudbury. I did not do this alone but have been supported by a vast web of people connected to the Let's Talk Science Partnership Program, The Climate Project and Laurentian University".

The program will officially start up September 8, 2010

Recruiting sessions will take place Tuesday - Thursday the week of September 7, 2010 in Room FA 181, Fraser Building, to the left of the Fraser Auditorium in the same wing as the Media Centre. Please tell your friends. Look for the really cool posters on campus this year too.
