Age of Stupid
The Climate Blockbuster Movie of 2009
Licensed through Mongrel Media Canada,

Auditorium Fraser, Université Laurentienne
, Vendredi 23 Octobre 2009

Fraser Auditorium, Laurentian University,
Friday October 23, 2009

This movie, in a clever way, shows us what will happen if we keep making stupid decisions to live on this planet in anu nsustainable way. Near the end of the film the Archivist wonders: “Why didn't’ we save ourselves? Was the answer that we weren’t sure we were worth saving?” We are worth saving. And we have all the technologies we need to succeed. At the end of the movie there is a good explaination of how we can come together to solve the climate crisis and avoid climate chaos. For a complete list of movie reviews go HERE.

NOT CONVINCED CLIMATE CHANGE IS A SERIOUS THREAT? Please read A Safe Operating Space for Humanity, published in Nature Magazine on September 24, 2009. The current level of atmospheric carbon dioxide is 390 ppm but climate models are strongly suggesting that 350 ppm is the safe level. Please come and share your current peer-reviewed scientific articles that suggest otherwise. We will have a respectful discussion at the end of the movie.

Not Stupid Discussion
1) Say to yourself before you do something: "What would love do?"
2) Building off the grid homes from existing homes. Heating homes in the next decade is going to become a lot more expensive.

3) A project to create a sitcom in Northern Ontario based in a Provincial Park, that teaches about environmental issues while laughing at ourselves -- Please check out the Park Brown Webisodes page for
three minute videos. Get ready to smile.
4) The Margaret Atwood Birthday Dinner on November 19 at Laurentian University was announced. The visit is the last stop on an international book tour planned to launch her new novel, The Year of the Flood (McClelland & Stewart).
4) The Santiago Sewing Club shared their Climate Change and World Peace video, what they learned and how they felt when I told them that a political leader had contacted us.
5) The last thing we did was dance to Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire. Thanks so much for dancing with us everyone. Every time I looked up and saw everyone dancing in sync it filled me with hope.

Sudbury we are one of the communities that are going to lead the world out of this mess the climate deniers have left us.

Thank you Green Sudbury, Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury, Sustainable Earth Club at LU, Earthcare, the Engineering Department at LU, The City of Sudbury's Bike Advisory Panel and the professors and students whom are passing this information forward. And if we forgot anyone please tell us so we can post it on this webpage which act as an archive for tonight's event.
